Site-Selective\nMagnesiation of Multifluorinated Arenes\nCatalyzed by Rhodium–Aluminum Bimetallic Complexes

We report the site-selective C–F magnesiation\nof multifluorinated\narenes catalyzed by Rh–Al bimetallic complexes to prepare synthetically\nimportant fluorine-containing organomagnesium reagents. We clarified\nthat the catalyst-control site-selectivity stems from the steric and\nelectronic environments of the substrates. The protocol can be applied\nto the efficient synthesis of fluorine-containing pharmaceuticals\nand liquid crystal molecules.

Abstract

We report the site-selective C–F magnesiation\nof multifluorinated\narenes catalyzed by Rh–Al bimetallic complexes to prepare synthetically\nimportant fluorine-containing organomagnesium reagents. We clarified\nthat the catalyst-control site-selectivity stems from the steric and\nelectronic environments of the substrates. The protocol can be applied\nto the efficient synthesis of fluorine-containing pharmaceuticals\nand liquid crystal molecules.
