Magnetic Induction\nHeating in a Conducting Polymer\nfor Biomedical Applications

In this study, we investigate the magnetic induction\nheating induced\nin a conducting polymer (CP) under alternative magnetic fields (AMFs).\nExperimental results and numerical simulations have proved that the\nmagneto-thermal conversion of the CP is caused by the induced eddy\ncurrent, which is related to the shape and intensity of the applied\nexternal AMF, and the intrinsic electrical conductivity, macrostructure\nand microstructure of the CP. By employing various fabrication methods,\nspecific temperature distribution and control of thermal field within\nconducting polymer films and aerogels could be achieved. To exploit\nthe potential of magnetic induction heating in CP for biomedical applications,\nwe designed a conducting polymer aerogel-based self-adaptive heat\npatch and demonstrated its AMF-enabled localized heating of skin.\nIn addition to the thermal ablation of tumor cells via magneto-thermal\nconversion of the CP, the promotion of neuronal differentiation at\nmild temperature by noninvasive magneto-electrical stimulation has\nalso been demonstrated to be an effective strategy for tissue engineering.
