Isolation, Characterization,\n In Vitro and In Silico\nAssessment of Undescribed Bioactive Constituents from <i>Pterocarpus\nsantalinus</i> L. Heartwood

Pterocarpus santalinus heartwood\nis well acknowledged for its medicinal properties and use in the furniture\nand handicraft industries. Owing to its medicinal properties, the\npresent investigation aims to isolate and characterize the secondary\nmetabolites from the heartwood. The investigation led to the isolation\nof one undescribed dehydropterocarpan and eleven known compounds. P. santalinusheartwood is found to be a new source\nfor six compounds. Interestingly, the undescribed dehydropterocarpan\nis transformed into an artifact, which led us to understand the biosynthetic\ncorrelations. The isolated compounds displayed moderate inhibition\nof α-glucosidase and α-amylase. The enzymatic assay outcome\nis further complimented with the in silico docking analysis. We have\nalso evaluated the compounds for their drug-likeness properties, which\nalign with the desired characteristics of potential drug candidates.
