A Multimetal Approach\nfor the Reticulation of Iridium\ninto Metal–Organic Framework Building Units

Noble metal elements are ubiquitous in our everyday life,\nfrom\nmedical applications to electronic devices and synthetic chemistry.\nIridium is one of the least abundant elements, and despite its scarcity,\nit remains essential for efficient and active catalytic processes.\nConsequently, the development of heterogeneous catalysts with the\npresence of active iridium sites is of enormous interest as it leads\nto the improvement of their recyclability and reusability. Here, we\ndemonstrate a strategy to incorporate iridium atoms into metal–organic\nframeworks (MOFs), as part of their secondary building units (SBUs),\nresulting in robust and reusable materials with heterogeneous photocatalytic\nactivity.
