Poly(vinyl alcohol)-Incorporated\nCore–Shell\nPolymer Nanogels Functionalized by Block Copolymer Installation for\nCisplatin Delivery
The functionalization approach for nanomaterials is of\ngreat importance\nfor their application in drug delivery systems. Herein, an approach\nbased on block copolymer installation into polymer nanogels was newly\ndeveloped. Poly(vinyl alcohol)-incorporated polymer nanogels were\nprepared by a two-step dispersion/precipitation polymerization. Poly(methacrylic\nacid)-<i>block</i>-poly(3-fluorophenylboronic acid methacrylamide)\n(PMAA-<i>b</i>-PFPBMA) prepared by two-step reversible addition–fragmentation\nchain transfer polymerization was installed into the polymer nanogels\nvia boronate ester formation. Furthermore, cisplatin as a cancer therapeutic\ndrug was successfully loaded on the block copolymer-installed polymer\nnanogels, and cell death was achieved by using the resulting cisplatin-loaded\nnanogels. We believe that the functionality of the nanogels can be\nchanged by varying the installed block copolymer, leading to the functionalization\napproach of polymer nanogels based on block copolymer installation,\nwhich will be of great utility in many fields.
