Photoinduced Palladium-Catalyzed\nRadical Germylative\nArylation of Alkenes with Chlorogermanes
We describe a visible light-induced palladium-catalyzed\nradical\ngermylative arylation of alkenes with easily accessible chlorogermanes.\nThis protocol provides expedient access to germanium-substituted indolin-2-ones\nin good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions. The key\nstep for this strategy lies in the reductive activation of germanium–chloride\nbonds with an excited palladium complex under visible light irradiation.\nThe involvement of germanium radicals was evidenced by electron paramagnetic\nresonance spectroscopy experiments.
