Study on the failure effect analysis of IC engine cylinder head

\nThis study presents the failure analysis of multi-cylinder head material for light duty vehicles (cars), which is made of aluminum alloys. Material cracks and wear form intensively due to thermo-mechanical stress caused by engine function or any load. In order for the cylinders to develop sufficient compression for engine running, the cylinder head's primary job is to assist the head gasket in sealing the cylinders. The cylinder head of a four-stroke engine houses the spark plugs, injectors, gas-exchange valves, and the valve gear overall in the majority of these engines. According to the quantity and arrangement of valves as well as the shape of the combustion chamber, several designs might exist. Because they dissipate heat more effectively and weigh less, cast aluminum alloys AS7GU (A356+0.5%), A319, and A356 are the most often utilized in cylinder head designs today. The general issue of engine head failures is very risky and comprehensive, based on material failures such as cracks and wear due to transient vibration, over-temperature, or any impact loads during accidents. In this research, the metallurgical examination will be conducted by altering material of aluminum alloy 7000 series i.e., Aluminum 7068. The proposed material behavior of the engine head was also examined by Finite Element Analysis.\n
