Mechanochemically Induced Thianthrenium Salts-Based\nArylation of Diverse Heterocyclic Scaffolds
Herein,\na mechanochemically triggered C–H arylation of coumarins,\nquinoline-<i>N</i>-oxides, and uracil molecules with aryl\nthianthrenium salts is described. Aryl thianthrenium salts are primarily\nacknowledged for their expedient reusability and adherence to atom\neconomy principles. Mechanistic studies suggested that mechanical\nstress promoted the homolytic scission of C–S bond of aryl\nthianthrenium salts, forming aryl radical intermediate. Later, the\naryl radical intermediate is engaged in addition reaction with the\nabove heterocycles, leading to the desired products in good yields.\nThis versatile protocol accommodates a wide range of functional groups\nand facilitates the synthesis of bioactive compounds and drug molecules.
