Photo‑, Thermo‑,\nand Vapochromic Behavior\nin a 2,4,6-Tris-2-pyridyl-1,3,5-triazine Ligand-Based Zn(II) Complex
Stimulus-responsive chromic materials show important\napplications\nin anticounterfeiting, sensor encryption, and catalysis. Herein, [Zn2(H2O)(TPTz)(C2O4)2]·5H2O (<b>1</b>, TPTz = 2,4,6-tris-2-pyridyl-1,3,5-triazine,\nC2O42– = oxalate) with a one-dimensional\nchain structure was synthesized and detailly studied via spectral\nanalyses. <b>1</b> displayed versatile stimulus-responsive chromic\nproperties, exhibiting a spectrum of colors ranging from light yellow\nto light orange under light, transitioning to white under heat, and\nmanifesting as light pink in amine vapor, in response to various stimuli.\nThe electron-transfer (ET)-dominated chromic mechanisms were characterized\nusing UV–vis, photoluminescence, and electron paramagnetic\nresonance spectra. In addition, we explored the application of this\nmultistimulus-responsive material for inkless printing and ethylenediamine\ndetection. This work inspires further design of ET-dominated multistimulus-responsive\nchromic materials in molecular materials.
