Stable and Fully-Oxidized\nMethylene-Bridged Macrocyclic\nPhenothiazine Polyradical Cations
Macrocyclic arenes represent one of the most important\nand intensively\ninvestigated entities in supramolecular chemistry. However, research\non the redox activities of macrocyclic arenes, especially their isolable\nand crystalline polyradical analogues, has been rarely reported. Here,\nwe present the synthesis, redox activity, and application of methylene-bridged\nmacrocyclic phenothiazines, where polyradical cations are successfully\nisolated and unambiguously characterized for the first time. This\nresearch provides an effective method for preparing polyradical macrocycles,\nwhich expands the scope of investigation into macrocyclic arenes and\ntheir potential applications.
