Stepping outside the human. Minor Animal Literature
Nagel suggests that we should not seek the imaginary perspective in understanding animals and their consciousness. Even though imagination and literature do not give the possibility to experience animal consciousness, however, it allows to experience the position of the Other and helps to form empathic and ethical relations with animals. This work aims to argue that “Minor Animal Literature” helps humans to go outside of defined patterns and structures of meaning in order to form an ethical response or discourse. The research argues that “Minor Animal Literature” is able to invoke a transgressive state of emotions that allows humans to leave the human perspective as much as possible to understand the possibility of Otherness and animal consciousness. The article also argues that “Minor Animal Literature” is political because it makes them learn to understand the diversity of life forms and their political and social status in human societies.
