SHAPU is a mysterious unilateral blinding eye disease reported from Nepal since 1975. There is a close relation between SHAPU and white colored moth, Gazalina chrysolopha. In the recent years there is a change in the pattern of SHAPU occurrence. It's occurrence only after monsoon of the odd numbered years is deviated by the occurrence in small numbers in pre-monsoon of even numbered years too. So the annual occurrence of SHAPU poses a significant public health concern.
