Short-chain fatty acids and sarcopenia: a two-sample Mendelian randomization study
In this study, the potential effect of butyric acid and propionic acid levels on the risk of sarcopenia was assessed using MR methodology using SNPs directly associated with the short-chain fatty acids butyric acid and propionic acid as genetic instrumental variables, and the results indicated that there is no causal relationship between butyric acid and propionic acid and sarcopenia. MR analysis reduces the bias found in traditional observational studies by utilizing the genetic variations to form a natural randomized controlled trial. Therefore, the results of this study may be closer to a true causal relationship. The supplementary material was visualization of MR Analysis results
