Agenesis of Gall Bladder- A Rare Phenomenon
AbstractIntroduction:Gallbladder agenesis is a rare congenital condition where the gallbladder is completely absent. It's a raremalformation of the biliary system, with an estimated prevalence of 9 per 100,000 individuals. While often asymptomatic, itcan cause symptoms similar to gallbladder disease, leading to misdiagnosis and potentially unnecessary surgery.Case report: A twelve-year old male, not a known case of any chronic illness had normal mile stones during childhoodpresented with dyspepsia and vague abdominal pain for last one month. All his routine biochemical parameters were normalbut ultrasonogram abdomen was significant for non-visualization of gall bladder, hence for confirmation Magnetic resonancecholangio-pancreatography (MRCP) was done which confirmed agenesis of gall bladder. He was symptomatically treatedand responded to treatment and after three follow up was performing well without any complaints. Conclusion:Gallbladder agenesis is a rare anomaly that can be asymptomatic or cause symptoms similar to other gallbladderconditions. It's important for healthcare professionals to be aware of this condition to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessarysurgical interventions.
