Speaker at Why not women in science? - Accelerating Equity

The Department of Chemical Science and Technologies at Tor Vergata University accepted the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) invitation to host a Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB) event within our Macroarea. This inspiring gathering, which took place in the morning of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, brought together around 50 participants, including students, researchers, and faculty members. This year the theme was "Why not women in science? - Accelerating Equity", which provided a meaningful framework for discussions on gender equity in scientific fields. The event fostered an open exchange of experiences and ideas, emphasizing the importance of inclusive opportunities in STEM disciplines. The Global Women’s Breakfast at Tor Vergata was a powerful reminder that fostering equity in science requires continuous engagement, dialogue, and collective action During the event, I had the opportunity to introduce myself and my life in science, including the Phoenix-OoC project as coordinator. I highlighted its significance and the core values driving the initiative. One intriguing aspect I discussed was the color purple, the color of the Phoenix-OoC project logo. Purple symbolizes transformation, creativity, and resilience, values that resonate deeply with the mission of the movement for gender equity in science. This event was not only a celebration of women’s contributions to science but also a call to action. By sharing personal journeys and professional insights, we aimed to inspire future generations of female scientists and reinforce the message that gender should never be a barrier to pursuing a career in science.
