Simulating the ISS: Towards the Automatic Georeferencing of Nighttime Images of Earth
Automated pipeline that combines simulated ISS views, AI-based image matching, and projection techniques to georeference nighttime Earth images. This approach enables the generation of light pollution maps to support ecological research and public policy. This presentation was delivered at the 2nd GUAIX Internal Meeting hosted by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, as part of the PLAN-B project, which investigates the impacts of light pollution on terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems.
