Seismic Performance Evaluation of RC Building Frames with Varying Plan Geometries Using Time History
Abstract:The seismic response of multi-storeyed reinforced concrete (RC) buildings with different planconfigurations-Square-shape and L-shape using nonlinear time history analysis in ETABS 2018.Real earthquake records from El-Centro (1940) and Bhuj (2001) are applied at multiple incidentangles (0°and 30°) to evaluate parameters such as roof displacement, storey drift, and base shear. The analysis reveals that irregular geometries like Lshapes exhibit higher seismic vulnerability, especially under El-Centro input. The results highlight the importance of architectural regularity anddirectional sensitivity in earthquake-resistant design.
