Hydrochemical Assessment of the Zaporizke (Dnipro) Reservoir near Monastyrskyi Island Based on Data from the "Nayada-2" Monitoring Station (August,2024)
A hydrochemical study of the Zaporizke (Dnipro) Reservoir in the vicinity of Monastyrskyi Island was conducted using the stationary surface water monitoring station "Nayada-2". The analysis presents data collected in August 2024. The research focused on the hydrochemical characteristics of the reservoir's water near Monastyrskyi Island. Monastyrskyi Island serves as a permanent hydrobiological research site for the staff of the Research Laboratory of Hydrobiology, Ichthyology and Radiobiology of the Research Institute of Biology at Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (DNU), as well as for the faculty and postgraduate students of the Department of General Biology and Aquatic Bioresources of DNU. In 2022, within the framework of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Environmental Monitoring Center of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council and DNU, the "Nayada-2" stationary monitoring station for surface water quality assessment was installed at the Educational and Research Complex "Aquarium" on Monastyrskyi Island. The station enables continuous monitoring of key hydrochemical parameters. The following indicators were measured: water temperature, total suspended solids, color, nitrate nitrogen content, biochemical oxygen demand over 5 days (BOD₅), chemical oxygen demand using dichromate (CODCr), dissolved oxygen concentration (O₂), organic carbon (C_org), and electrical conductivity. The obtained results were compared against regulatory standards for water bodies designated for fisheries use.
