ANUSA's Generative AI Report: A report on student use and perspectives on generative AI at the Australian National University
Based on a 2024 survey of 378 students, this report explores how generative AI (GenAI) tools are shaping the student experience at ANU — from clarifying ideas to structuring writing and getting feedback when other support isn’t available. While many students use GenAI thoughtfully, concerns about fairness, skill development, and unclear guidelines remain. Students aren’t asking for unrestricted use — we’re asking for clarity, critical engagement, and genuine support.
