Design and Implementation of An Adaptive Power Factor Correction System Using Arduino for Variable Load Conditions

The demand for electrical energy continues to rise, underscoring the need for efficient power management systems. Power factor, a critical indicator of system efficiency, plays a pivotal role in enhancing supply quality. This paper introduces an embedded system based on Arduino for automatic power factor correction (APFC), integrated with comprehensive power measurement capabilities. The system employs a capacitor bank controlled by relay switching to optimize power factor in real-time. Using Potential Transformer (PT) and Current Transformer (CT) sensors, accurate power measurements are obtained and displayed on an LCD screen. A practical demonstration utilizing a half HP motor highlights the tangible benefits of efficient power factor correction in electrical systems, emphasizing improved energy efficiency and cost savings
