Thinking Is Life: Movement, Consciousness, and the Birth of the Subject

Thinking is not a static function of the mind, but a dynamic form of life. It arises not from stored knowledge or formal logic, but from interaction with the world — through movement, modeling, and internal search. This article explores the difference between mere reaction and active cognitive search, using comparisons between AI, human consciousness, and animal behavior, especially horses. We examine the subtle indicators of thought in motion and the essential conditions under which thinking and self-awareness emerge. A central distinction is made between self-awareness (“I exist”) and the capacity for self-change (“I choose what I become”), emphasizing the role of internal initiative in the development of subjectivity.
