SIMULASI DINAMIKA PENGAMBILAN KEPUTUSAN DALAM PERMAINAN CIVILIZATION: POLITIK, EKONOMI, DAN TEKNOLOGI
The turn-based strategy game Civilization has become a global cultural phenomenon and asignificant subject of academic inquiry due to its simulation of human civilizationdevelopment. This study presents the results of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aimedat analyzing how Civilization simulates multi-domain decision-making dynamics, includingpolitical, economic, and technological systems. Using the SLR method, relevant literaturewas systematically and transparently identified, evaluated, and synthesized. Findings showthat Civilization models the complex and interdependent interactions among domains, wheredecisions in one area significantly impact others, creating systemic dynamics and feedbackloops. Game mechanics such as government systems, policies, diplomacy, resourcemanagement, trade, city-building (including district mechanics that enforce specializationand spatial planning), and technology trees collectively form a strategic decision-makinglandscape for players. While Civilization offers a rich and potentially educational model forexploring complex systems, this analysis also highlights its simplifications, abstractions, andpotential biases—such as Eurocentrism and technological determinism. This studycontributes to a more structured understanding of multi-domain simulation in complexstrategy games and identifies directions for future research.
