Examining the Relationship Between Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development and the Enhancement of Problem-Solving Skills in Adolescents

This study investigates the relationship between Piaget’s stages of cognitive developmentand the enhancement of problem-solving skills among adolescents. Drawing fromPiagetian theory, particular emphasis is placed on the transition from the concreteoperational stage to the formal operational stage, which marks the emergence of abstractreasoning, hypothetical-deductive logic, and systematic problem-solving strategies. Theresearch adopts a cross-sectional design with adolescents aged 12–18, employingstandardized cognitive assessment tools and problem-solving tasks. Findings areexpected to demonstrate that progression into the formal operational stage significantlyimproves problem-solving performance. The study’s implications are relevant foreducational policy, curriculum design, and targeted cognitive skill development programs. Keywords: Piaget, cognitive development, problem-solving, adolescence, formaloperational stage
