Those holding the fort: The complexity of human mobility beyond traditional patterns

Abstract One-third of working families in the UK are estimated to have at least one parent outside the formal workforce, engaging in various household and caring activities both inside and outside the home. Understanding the local movement patterns of this group, as well as their relation to their urban environment and socio-economic reality, is fundamental to developing inclusive public policies promoting access to diverse and sustainable types of amenities. In this work, with the aim of mobile data records and different socioeconomic datasets, we propose building location-based travel diaries to explore such patterns.
