Challenges and Prospects of the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Nigerian Contemporary Churches

The invention of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a phenomenon that is beyond human comprehension in the world today. It is a milestone that is being used to tackle issues that once defiled all-known human solutions. In modern day churches, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used in various church operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Despite its use in the contemporary Nigerian churches, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has its drawbacks and concerns as it concerns Nigerian churches who are yet to grasp full understanding of its power and effectiveness. Therefore, the thrust of this work is to examine the challenges and prospects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigerian churches today. However, the puzzling questions the research intends to uncover are: is AI meant for church and should churches use it at all? If yes, are there Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for churches? Are there any biblical teachings backing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modern-day churches? Are the churches in Nigeria ready and fully equipped to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) for maximum protection of church properties and members? Can its use ensure the advancement of the gospel truth? Qualitative method of research was adopted in gathering necessary information. It basically involved the use of historical research tools. This became imperative so as not to distort historical facts as it concerns biblical understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its genesis and effectiveness in the global church and how Nigerian churches can tap into its use. One of the findings of this paper is that a good number of churches in Nigeria are still lacking in understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and as such are reluctant in its use. The work recommended that church leaders and experts alike should create awareness and enlightenment programmes to educate the church ministers and members on the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) church growth. The work concluded that efforts should be made by churches in Nigeria to embrace the use of AI for a better and more effective worship experience.
