CLINICAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL FEATURES OF VISCERAL LEISHMANIASIS IN THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
Тoday, leishmaniasis plays an important role in the pathology of Azerbaijan. The subtropical and temperate climate zones characteristic of our country, the diversity of flora and fauna, and the geographical location create natural conditions for the spread of a number of diseases, including parasitic and transmissible ones, and their carriers in the territory of Azerbaijan. Visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis have been registered in Azerbaijan for over 100 years.Visceral leishmaniasis is distributed unevenly across the regions of the Republic. The clinical course of the disease depends on a number of factors: the type of parasite, sporadic or epidemic outbreaks of the disease, nutrition, the state of the immune system, concomitant diseases, etc.To assess the clinical course of leishmaniasis, we analyzed the medical records and outpatient cards of 332 patients with visceral leishmaniasis. Asymptomatic disease was observed in 208 patients (62.7 ± 2.7%). In 124 patients (37.58 ± 3.38%), the disease proceeded with clinical symptoms such as fever, malaise, chills, weight loss, anemia, anorexia, discomfort in the hypochondrium, splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, etc.
