IMAGELAB: SIMPLIFYING IMAGE PROCESSING EXPLORATION FOR NOVICES AND EXPERTS ALIKE
Image processing plays a foundational role in computer vision and artificial intelligence, yet its steep learning curveposes a challenge for beginners unfamiliar with complex programming frameworks. This project introducesImageLab, a browser-based visual programming platform designed to simplify image processing through an intuitive,block-based interface. Leveraging Blockly for frontend visual logic and OpenCV.js for client-side imagetransformations, ImageLab enables users to construct and execute image processing pipelines using drag-and-dropblocks without writing code. Each block maps to a corresponding OpenCV operation such as grayscale conversion,Gaussian blur, or edge detection, with real-time feedback rendered on an HTML5 canvas. The platform is modular, lightweight, and fully offline-compatible, making it ideal for educational use, rapid prototyping, and visualexperimentation. Through a rule-based execution engine and real-time visual previews, ImageLab bridges the gapbetween conceptual understanding and practical application, making image processing accessible to both novices andexperts.
