Studies on Nickel Coated Graphene-Reinforced AL7075 Metal Matrix Composites.
The present study focuses on Nickel coated graphene reinforced Al7075 metal matrix composites (MMCs) enhanced with electroless nickel coating to improve mechanical properties. Such as Tensile strength of Al7075 alloy, known for its high strength and light weight characteristics, was reinforced with varying weight percentages of graphene (0%, 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%) using the stir casting technique, ensuring uniform dispersion of graphene within the matrix. The fabricated composites were further subjected to electroless nickel coating to enhance Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, using universal testing machines and Results indicated a significant improvement in mechanical properties, with the 1.5% graphene-reinforced composite exhibiting a 43.92% increase in tensile strength (251.32 MPa) The electroless nickel coating further enhanced surface properties, demonstrating uniform thickness and improved wear resistance. This study highlights the potential of graphene-reinforced Al7075 composites with electroless nickel coating for advanced structural applications in aerospace, automotive, and marine industries.
