From Shock to Strategy: Quality of Life Indicators as Foundations for Post-Disaster Recovery in Türkiye

This article investigates the post-disaster quality of life (QoL) among survivors of the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in Türkiye. Drawing on data from a cross-sectional household survey conducted in Adana, Adıyaman, Hatay, and Kahramanmaraş, the study analyzes survivors’ access to essential services, protection, shelter, and information. Using a survivor-centered and sociologically grounded approach, the research highlights multidimensional vulnerabilities across gender, age, and legal status—particularly among displaced populations and refugees under temporary protection.
