NOVAFOODIES app for end users Deliverable 6.7
This DEM (Demonstrator, pilot, prototype) deliverable outlines the development process of the NOVAFOODIES mobile app, including the presentation of its wireframe, technical and usability specifications, and an experimental analysis. The app was designed and developed under Task 6.4, "NOVAFOODIES App for End-Users", by INFOTEAM (IT), as part of Work Package 6, "IT Tools Development and Monitoring for Traceability and Enhanced Trust", led by ITENE (ITE).This deliverable focuses on detailing the design and implementation process of the NOVAFOODIES Mobile App, developed to improve transparency and traceability within the fish and aquaculture supply chains. The app is central to the project's goals of enhancing consumer trust and promoting sustainable practices. Its primary purpose is to empower end-users by providing straightforward and intuitive access to product traceability. Through scanning a QR code available in stores, consumers can access verified and detailed information on the product’s origin, production practices, certifications, nutritional values, and environmental impact, all without the need to share personal data. The pilot phase is currently underway in collaboration with partner aquaculture producers in Italy and Greece. During this phase, the mobile app is being tested in real-world sales environments, allowing consumers to directly interact with the traceability system. Feedback gathered from the pilot cases, their distribution networks, and end-customers will be used to refine and improve the tool, addressing any identified issues and improving its overall functionality, user experience, and effectiveness. This experimental phase represents a critical step toward validating the system and fostering a more transparent, traceable, and sustainable European aquaculture sector.
