TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP APPROACH AS A RESPONSE TO DECLINING EFFECTIVENESS OF VOLUNTEER CHURCH WORKERS
AbstractThe effectiveness of volunteer church workers has significantly declined in recent times, affecting the overall performance and impact of church ministry. This paper explores how transformational leadership—a leadership model characterized by idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration—can effectively respond to this challenge. The study begins with an overview of leadership styles, emphasizing transformational leadership as a contemporary and results-driven model. It examines the roles, motivations, and challenges faced by volunteer church workers and identifies key factors contributing to their declining effectiveness, including poor leadership, lack of recognition, misaligned roles, and waning spiritual commitment. Through a detailed analysis, the paper demonstrates how transformational leadership can revitalize volunteer engagement by aligning church vision with individual purpose, fostering a culture of recognition, and promoting personal growth. Ultimately, it argues that the adoption of transformational leadership principles can reinvigorate volunteer participation, enhance ministry outcomes, and ensure sustainable church growth.
