Role of Omics approaches in NAFLD
Abstract A progressive disorder of the liver, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) includes a range of pathologies such as cirrhosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), steatosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Because of this disease’s rapidly growing in prevalence, financial burden and current lack of FDS-approves treatments, research into it is necessary. Because the etiology of NAFLD is highly complex, multi tissue multi-omics network techniques are necessary to uncover the pathogenic genes and processes as well as potential therapeutic strategies. A basic overview of disease pathogenesis and risk factors is present in this review which is followed by the discussion of the needs and concepts of ongoing technological advancements such as genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics which holds the great promise for the discovery of biomarkers as well as increased pathophysiological understanding of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). As a results, we are likely to see a number of breakthrough biomarkers in the near future which is develop from a deeper understanding of the biological role of individual cell types in the healthy as well as injured liver.
