Comparative Evaluation of Seismic Load Effects on Tall Buildings Based on Indian Structural Codes

This research conducts a dynamic seismic assessment of a multistorey building using the Time History Method, which offers detailed insights into structural responses under real earthquake excitations. By utilizing actual ground motion records, the study evaluates critical dynamic parameters including displacement, velocity, and acceleration. Advanced simulation tools were used to model structural behavior across varying seismic intensities, with a focus on lateral displacement, inter-story drift, and base shear. The analysis aligns with contemporary seismic design standards to ensure result validation. Results reveal increased lateral motion in upper floors, identifying structurally vulnerable zones. These findings contribute to improved retrofitting measures and structural design strategies. The study emphasizes the value of the Time History Method in delivering realistic, code-compliant assessments for enhancing seismic resilience in high-rise construction.
