Persistence of Emotional Information in the Physical Universe: A Hypothetical Perspective
This paper proposes a philosophical-theoretical framework exploring the persistence of emotional information in the universe, drawing on concepts from neuroscience and quantum physics. The hypothesis is speculative and calls for further experimental research. Understanding the informational nature of emotions may offer new insights into the interaction between consciousness and the physical universe. Building on frameworks like Integrated Information Theory (Tononi, 2004) and the principle of information conservation (Susskind, 2008), this paper aims to spark interdisciplinary discussion on the role of emotions in the universe’s informational fabric. Consciousness and emotion are among the most enigmatic phenomena in the physical sciences. Emotions are typically described as fleeting, internal, and deeply subjective. But if they emerge from physical brain processes—electrochemical signals and network dynamics—then they are also inherently informational. This leads us to the central question: If emotions are physical systems that generate information, does that information persist after biological death in accordance with the laws of physics?
