Cybersecurity Challenges in Modern Industrial Control Systems
Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are the backbone of critical infrastructure sectors, includingenergy, manufacturing, and transportation. Traditionally designed for isolated environments,ICS now face a growing risk landscape due to increasing integration with IT networks and theinternet. This connectivity, while improving operational efficiency and remote accesscapabilities, has also exposed these systems to sophisticated cyber threats. Legacytechnologies, limited authentication mechanisms, and lack of encryption are among thevulnerabilities that adversaries exploit. As cyberattacks targeting ICS environments becomemore frequent and disruptive, understanding the unique cybersecurity challenges they poseis crucial for developing resilient and secure control systems.
