Inovasi Daur Ulang Limbah Plastik Menjadi Produk Kreatif

The problem of plastic waste, especially plastic bottles, is a serious environmental challenge in Indonesia. This research aims to process plastic bottle waste at Alfa Centauri High School into economically valuable and functional creative products, namely plant pots and flower vases, as part of the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) themed “Green and Smart School”. The research method used a descriptive and experimental approach; plastic bottle waste was collected and processed by students of class XI-1, with the bottle caps melted and molded into plant pots, while the bottle bodies were cut and painted into flower vases. The results of the durability test against high temperature, impact, sun exposure, and humidity showed that the pots and vases had good durability without significant damage. Community response was also positive; out of 100 questionnaire respondents, 81% were interested in purchasing these products, although there were suggestions for quality and design improvements. In conclusion, this project successfully reduced plastic waste and produced functional and aesthetically pleasing products, with recommendations for improved design, quality, use of safer recycling methods, and product diversification to appeal to a wider market.
