Motivation of Students under the Voucher Program in Private Senior High Schools
Abstract: This study explores the motivation levels of 300 Senior High School students under the Voucher Program in private schools, focusing on three key domains: Academic Motivation (intrinsic/extrinsic), Self-Efficacy and Confidence, and Career and Future Aspirations. Results show that students are generally highly motivated academically and in planning for their future careers. However, their self-efficacy and confidence are relatively lower. Motivation levels also varied by age and sex—older students showed stronger career aspirations, while females were more academically motivated. No significant differences emerged based on family income, and year level. To address lower confidence levels, the study recommends targeted interventions such as workshops, mentoring, and counseling. It also suggests enhancing career guidance services through individualized counseling and exploration activities, introducing career awareness programs in Grade 11, and involving families in seminars or workshops to support student motivation. Tailored activities to support male students' motivation are likewise encouraged. Keywords: Private Senior High Schools; Student Motivation; Voucher Program
