EFFECTS OF UPPER BODY ANAEROBIC CAPACITY ON ANAEROBIC ENDURANCE
AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate the role of upper body anaerobic capacity, asmeasured by Wingate Anaerobic Arm Test (WAnAT), in anaerobic endurance run (AER)measured by three corner run test (TCRT). A total of 20 male sport college students (age:23.85±2.87 y, height: 1.77±0.07 m and body weight: 72.35±12.25 kg) participated in thestudy. To estimate upper body anaerobic power capability, laboratory test included 30 secondWAnAT. To estimate AER, field test included the TCRT. The regression analysis was set upso that independent variables were WAnAT which was considered criterion measures ofanaerobic capacity. These criterion measures were evaluated for peak power (PP), meanpower (MP), fatique index (FI), and percentage of fatique index (FI%).Statistical analysesshown that was significant relationship between WAnAT variables (PP, MP and FI) and AER.On the other hand, there was not correlated between AER and the percentage of fatigue index(64±15 %), (r=0.119; P=0.617). In conclusion, the associations between AER and theWAnAT outputs from the 30-s Wingate test evidenced the importance of the upper body anaerobic capacity for maintaining anaerobic endurance run during the 202.4 m in time about30 - 40 s).
