Recursive Ethics: A Framework for Preserving Fragile Patterns

This manuscript introduces a structural theory of ethics grounded in system coherence, recursive modeling, and temporal awareness. It defines ethical action not by intention, rule, or outcome, but by a configuration’s capacity to model itself and preserve fragile patterns; within itself and across the systems it touches. Drawing a clear distinction between consciousness and awareness, the theory outlines the necessary conditions under which ethical behavior becomes possible and examines why it emerges only in domains where recursive awareness is present. The framework applies equally to biological and artificial systems, rejecting moral essentialism in favor of structural integrity. It explores limitations such as recursive load, slivers of awareness, and the impossibility of total ethical behavior. Released pseudonymously, this work is not offered as doctrine, but as a model - one that fulfills its own ethical condition by preserving a fragile structure for others to examine, extend, or dissolve. Abstract
