Information Sheet of Dissident Transtextuality Proyect - CERES NGO
This document is an information sheet about a project called "Dissident Transtextualities," created by CERES NGO, a Chilean organization focused on social and gender issues. The "Dissident Transtextualities" project, spearheaded by CERES NGO with funding from Chile’s Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage, represents a bold and transformative effort to center and celebrate the voices of trans*, nonbinary, and gender-dissident communities within Chilean literature and cultural discourse. At its heart, the project seeks to disrupt dominant narratives by showcasing an eclectic mix of literary genre. The initiative interrogates the very processes of literary creation using in-depth interviews with authors to explore how gender, desire, and resistance shape their work, while also confronting the systemic barriers these writers face in publishing and public recognition. The project’s innovative audiovisual adaptations —complete with sign language interpretation, subtitles, and audio descriptions— ensure these stories reach broader audiences, embodying a commitment to accessibility and intersectional inclusion. By partnering with media outlets, cultural centers, and grassroots organizations, Dissident Transtextualities elevates marginalized narratives and builds networks of solidarity, fostering a cultural shift toward greater empathy and understanding. In doing so, it challenges readers, viewers, and institutions alike to reimagine literature as a space of liberation—one where trans and queer voices are not just heard, but actively shape the future of storytelling.
