GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE PEDAGOGY: APPLICATIONS, CHALLENGES, AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS OF LARGE LANGUAGE MODELS

With the rapid development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) technology, its application in the field of foreign language teaching has gradually become a hot topic of educational research. This paper is devoted to the innovative application of Large Language Models(LLMs) based on GAI in foreign language teaching, including the practical paths of teaching design, teaching methodology and teaching evaluation. It is found that GAI provides new ideas and methods for foreign language teaching, however, at the same time, its application in foreign language teaching faces technical and ethical challenges. This paper proposes corresponding solution strategies and looks forward to the future development trend of foreign language education, aiming to provide reference for the practice and research of GAI-enabled foreign language teaching.
