Development of Advanced Ear and Ear-Pod Technologies for Comprehensive Mental Health Diagnostics

This research presents a novel approach to early mental health diagnostics by integrating Electroencephalography (EEG) and Photoplethysmography (PPG) technologies into wearable devices such as earpods and earrings. With rising global mental health challenges—especially anxiety and stress—there is a pressing need for non-invasive, continuous, and accessible monitoring systems. This paper explores how in-ear and earlobe-based EEG and PPG sensors can effectively detect physiological and neurological indicators of mental health disorders. The study also highlights the crucial role of Artificial Intelligence in signal analysis, the Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time data transmission, and nanotechnology for sensor miniaturization. By analyzing academic literature, commercial prototypes, and emerging patents, the research outlines a robust system architecture for wearable mental health monitoring and provides actionable insights for future innovations in digital mental health.
