THE ROLE OF SELF –ASSESSMENT IN INDEPENDENT STUDY FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNER
Self-assessment is a critical component in promoting independent study among primary school foreign language learners. This article explores how self-assessment fosters autonomy, motivates learners, and supports language acquisition. Drawing from pedagogical theories and classroom practices, it outlines effective strategies—such as rubrics, checklists, and reflective journals—that enable students to evaluate their progress, identify learning gaps, and set personalized goals. Findings reveal that self-assessment not only enhances language proficiency but also cultivates critical thinking and self-regulation skills, preparing students for long-term academic success.
