AI IN HEALTHCARE: PROS AND CONS

Abstract: This article explores the integration of Generative AI (GenAI) in healthcare, focusing on its potential applications, challenges, and the need for regulatory frameworks. Through a combination of web-based surveys and interviews, the study investigates public perceptions regarding AI’s role in improving medical diagnostics, treatment planning, and operational efficiency. The survey results indicate significant support for AI's ability to enhance healthcare outcomes, particularly in improving treatment processes and data analysis. However, concerns were raised regarding the impact of AI on the healthcare workforce, particularly in relation to potential job displacement. Interviews with healthcare professionals and experts emphasized the importance of clear and comprehensive regulations to govern the safe and ethical use of AI, especially in safeguarding patient data. The study concludes by recommending the establishment of robust regulatory frameworks to ensure the responsible and ethical deployment of AI technologies in healthcare systems.
