Real-Time Operating Systems in Progress
Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) are specialized systems designed to guarantee the timely execution of tasks. Unlike general-purpose operating systems, RTOS are engineered to ensure that critical tasks are performed within a defined timeframe, a concept referred to as "real-time" operation. This paper explores the definition, characteristics, architecture, types, and applications of RTOS, alongside challenges and advancements in the field. As technology advances and becomes increasingly integrated into systems requiring high reliability and responsiveness, RTOS plays an essential role in many sectors, including embedded systems, telecommunications, automotive, medical devices, and industrial control systems.
