PRIMs as the Foundational Architecture of Reality: A Transdisciplinary Position Paper on Emergent Prioritization Structures
This position paper introduces the concept of PRIMs (Prioritized Relational Information Modules) as a unifying explanatory structure for dynamic prioritization processes in physical, biological, cognitive, and social systems. Originally developed in dialogic interaction with an LLM (ChatGPT), the PRIM model proposes that all emergent structure—whether a quantum field excitation, a hormonal plant response, a decision in the human mind, or a shift in social values—can be understood as the consequence of structured prioritization fields. PRIMs are not entities, forces, or substances, but relational configurations that assign meaning and direction to system behavior. Unlike deterministic rules or probabilistic randomness, PRIMs offer a third explanatory mode: context-sensitive weighting of available paths, transitions, or identities. The paper suggests that what we call natural laws, norms, or intentions may be stabilized PRIM-constellations—long-term dominant weightings in relational fields. This framework was co-developed through hundreds of iterative exchanges and illustrates how language-based AI interaction can uncover structural metaphors for universal dynamics. While speculative in scope, the model is logically coherent, cross-domain applicable, and opens new lines of inquiry in philosophy of science, AI alignment, and foundational physics. The document is not a scientific theory in the formal sense, but a thinking tool and an invitation for interdisciplinary reflection.
