Exploring The Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Teacher Education: Awareness, Perceptions, And Concerns Among Teacher Students

Abstract: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teacher education is gaining attention for its potential to improve teaching methods and personalize learning. However, there is limited understanding of its implications, particularly in terms of employment concerns and ethical issues. This study explores the awareness and perceptions of AI among teacher students in Malappuram District, Kerala. Using a mixed-methods approach, including surveys and focus group discussions, the study assesses students' understanding of AI, its potential in classroom management, and concerns like job displacement. Results show moderate awareness, with varied responses. Students are enthusiastic about AI’s role in learning but emphasize the need for more foundational knowledge. The study offers recommendations for integrating AI into teacher education programs effectively.
