Design, Simulation, and Analysis of a 35 mm APCP Solid Rocket Motor
This document presents the design, simulation, and analysis of a 35 mm solid rocket motor using Ammonium Perchlorate Composite Propellant (APCP), specifically the MIT "Cherry Limeade" formulation. The study compares two grain configurations — a Fynocyl grain with six fins and a BATES grain — both with a 12 mm core and 60 mm length. Using OpenMotor simulations, thrust performance, burn characteristics, and nozzle geometry were analyzed. The motor features a spherical forward closure and is optimized for structural integrity, lathe-free manufacturing, and safe ignition. This preprint is intended for educational and experimental reference in amateur rocketry and propulsion design.
