A Study of Corporate Social Responsibility towards Skill Development of Women: A Step towards Sustainable Development

Women’s skill development is a key driver of sustainable growth, fostering economic stability, social equity, and long-term community development. When women are equipped with relevant skills, they gain the ability to earn, innovate, and lead, contributing to the overall progress of societies and economies. By integrating vocational training, digital literacy, financial management, and entrepreneurship into skill development programs, women can participate more actively in the workforce, creating a ripple effect of economic empowerment that benefits families and communities alike. When women acquire market-relevant skills—whether in technology, entrepreneurship, or creative fields—they can access better employment opportunities and higher salaries, reducing financial dependency on others. To help women gain employment, start businesses, and achieve financial independence, many companies and organizations have launched Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This paper is an attempt to understand the relevance of Skill Training provided by CSR and its impact on women of the local area. This paper focuses on real-life experiences of women who have participated in skill development programs under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Through group interviews with trainees and discussions with resource persons at training centers, this paper critically analyzes the key challenges and successes in women's skill development. The findings not only highlight major issues but also provide insights into how these programs impact the lives of trainees.
