EVALUATION OF CLOUD IMAGES BASED ON DIGITAL PROCESSING AND HYTA SEGMENTATION METHOD

This study aims to improve the forecasting of photovoltaic (PV) system output power by applying a segmentation methodology to sky images acquired with a Hikvision fisheye camera with HYTA (Hybrid Thresholding Algorithm), which will help to improve the future grid-connected PV systems. The study analyzes the optical changes under different cloud conditions and explores the possibilities of estimating cloud density and modeling solar radiation changes through image processing techniques. The segmentation results confirm the effectiveness of the HYTA algorithm in sky image processing and cloud classification. The study investigates the optical properties of clouds, their effects on solar radiation, and their effects on PV system performance. As a result, the proposed approach is of great importance in the quality of future forecasts of photovoltaic power generation and optimization of solar radiation utilization.
